Dinner Classes Being Taught in Private Homes Near Frankfort

In addition to the Art Center culinary program, Chef Jim will be teaching a complete dinner class one evening a month beginning in July 2012 at private homes in the Frankfort area.  All classes will start at 6p.m., run approximately 2.5/3.0 hours, and consist of cooking demonstrations followed by a full three course, sit-down dinner of the prepared dishes accompanied by the recommended wines.  Students will go home with detailed recipes and plenty of tips for successful entertaining.  The price of the class is $85 per student (payment is due at the time of the class, cash or checks only please).  Interested students may enroll  in one or all of these dinner sessions and reserve their seat by going to the "Enroll/Contact Us" page on this website and filling out the form.  Sign-up early-- these popular classes fill up very quickly!

The complete 2012 Dinner Class Schedule is:

  • Dinner #1:  (This class is currently full/waitlist only) Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in Jim Beck's home overlooking Lake Michigan, near the Congregational Assembly.  The menu for this class will include:
    • Avocado stuffed with Crabmeat and Remoulade Sauce
    • Roasted Cornish Game Hens
    • Spring Risotto
    • Lemon Tart with Raspberry Coulis (not prepared in class, will be discussed with recipe)

 

  • Dinner #2:  Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in Betsie Hosick's home located on the west end of Crystal Lake.  The menu for this dinner is:
    • Cucumber Gazpacho with Shrimp
    • Herb Crusted Rack of Lamb
    • Vegetable Puree
    • Peach Parfait


  • Dinner #3:  Monday, September 11, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in Sally Berlin's private suite located above Crystal Crate and Cargo in downtown Beulah.  The menu for this dinner is:
    • Country Onion Tart
    • Langoustine Newburg
    • Asparagus with Balsamic Tomatoes
    • Orange Sorbet in Orange Boats (not prepared in class, will be discussed with recipe)
